NBC UNIVERSAL 2160
Conference Room 8H, Los Angeles, CA
A stretch fabric covered ceiling was used to hide the speakers and control noise. The fabric covered ceiling gave the room a very seamless look as well as allowed us to use insulation to reduce sound escape. To reduce vibration, we wrapped all of the conduit in insulation. The walls were covered in fabric wrapped insulation panels. The ends of the room were lined with CNC Machine Cut MDF Boards with an automotive finish. The perforations in the wood allowed the insulation behind the panels to absorb sound escape. The linear lights and linear diffusers were paired perfectly for a uniform installation. The doors were removed and skinned with veneer to match the new table and cabinets.
To power the room, we installed a new 200 AMP Panel and 45VA Transformer. To cool the room, we installed new 4 Ton DX Split Heat Pumps (one for the room and one for the Video Wall) and one split ductless system (for the Audio Video Closet). The first phase of this project was to expand the room by expanding into the existing adjacent space by moving the back wall and maintaining the fire rated corridor. The existing ceiling was had to be raised to 12’ tall. By raising the ceiling, we had to realign the utilities that went through the room. These utilities included the Supply Line for the HVAC ducting, Conduits for Data, Fire Suppression Lines, HVAC Control Wiring, Access Control Wiring, Electrical Utilities and Plumbing lines.
This project involved modifications to the following: Fire Alarm, CCTV, Fire Suppression, Fire Protection, Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC, Structural, Framing, Drywall, Insulation, Landscaping, Paint, and Waterproofing. MZT utilized in-house framers to build the metal stud walls and ceilings, our carpenters to install the millwork, in- house dry wallers to repair the walls, laborers for demolition, and painters for paint. This project utilized a 100% Union Work Force.
