Wastewater Treatment Plant
Deer Creek, CA
The construction consisted of refurbishing and modifying an existing steel equalization storage tank complete with odor control, a mix pumping station, protective coatings and adding a second equalization tank which increased the ability to store and return primary effluent during the peak flows. The scope also included: furnishing, constructing and removing sheeting, shoring, and bracing; excavation; grading and compaction; construction of the foundation, hatches, piping and stainless-steel ladders; testing; disinfection; and interior and exterior painting. A new equalization pump station was installed and included a reinforced concrete structure, grating, installation of motorized sluice gates and vertical submersible pumps with valves, connection to the pipeline, and flow meter. The installation of waterline including unclassified excavation, backfill, compaction, marking tape, groundwater control, surface restoration, shoring and testing was also included in the scope.
Other work to the facility included the installation of new head works, construction of new polymer and motor control center buildings and installation of a new generator. The new Equalization Motor Control Building housed the necessary electrical equipment for the operations associated with the new Equalization Pump Station. The Equalization Motor Control Center Building was equipped with all SCADA equipment necessary to allow operations to be monitored and adjusted at the existing operations building. The new Polymer Building was constructed in order to mix and supply the necessary polymer solution to the existing treatment plant at the existing clarifiers. The scope of work included the Polymer Building and the process piping.
The main emergency generator and fuel system installation included a day tank and slab, fuel piping and leak detection system, bollards, grading, compaction, drain rock, asphalt concrete, drop inlet and drainage piping, protective coating, cleaning start-up and testing. An electrical system complete and in-place was installed and included the preparation and installation of all electrical wiring, conduit, connectors, fuse, motor control center, NEMA boxes, pull boxes, j boxes, bulbs and fluorescent tubes, and connections between operating machinery and control units and instrumentation.
